Holding onto Anger

Recently I felt quite angry towards a friend for her behaviour (or lack of action). I realised it wasn't just based on this particular moment, but there was some remaining baggage still being carried about previous interactions with her.

A part of me really didn't want to tap for this anger, but keep it instead. Why? Well, sometimes we do that if subconsciously we think it's going to help us get what we want, or bring about some justice that we think is deserving.

Once I realised what I was doing, all I had to do was ask "What is this anger ACTUALLY achieving?". My own suffering............ A mistaken thought that it will motivate me to get what I want (Not Working!!). Once the mind could see that this effort was foolish, it was much easier to tap for. I was overcoming Psychological Reversal.

It's worth looking at why we won't use EFT sometimes, because the reason might not be valid once we shine the light on it.

Tap on the Obvious

If you're not sure what to tap on, pick an obvious symptom. For me, it was feeling tired. So I tapped on:

Even though I feel tired, I accept myself
Even though I feel tired, I'm Ok
Even though I feel tired, it's Ok for me to feel tired

I went from an intensity rating of tiredness at an 8, and went down to a 6. Along with a nice big yawn. It is quite common to yawn with this energy work.

I repeated the above phrases with slight variations such as:

Even though I still have this tiredness at a 6, I accept myself.

I kept doing this until I reached a 1 intensity, which I was happy with. A few moments later I suddenly felt OK about a mistake I had made a few weeks ago. I wasn't even thinking about it at the time, and I had shifted from feeling like a failure to feeling normal about it. "Ok, so I stuffed up, not exactly the first person on the planet to do that."

So you can be working on an obvious symptom, whilst actually doing work on something specific that isn't in your conscious mind at that moment.
